I'm new to this group, and really need advice for a writing curriculum that is easy to use or teach. My son, who is in 8th grade, is ADHD, very visual, hates busy work and writing, and needs help organizing. If anyone has a child like this and has successfully used anything (in any subject) that they feel has really helped for this age and beyond, I would appreciate it! Thank you and God bless!
Non-Catholic college recommendations?

I have twins who are juniors this year, thinking about where to apply to college. They are serious Catholics, interested in the humanities, and very bright. We've got a decent list of Catholic schools, but are alo looking for non-Catholic schools where a student with very high SATs will have intellectual peers, but where her Catholicism won't make her an outcast--or better yet where she can find congenial fellow Catholics.

Some places we've considered are Princeton, Chicago, St John's College. ...

Hello, for a semester course in Astronomy for high school level does anyone have a recommendation? I'd love one of those Apologia books since I think he explains topics so well. But they don't have Apologia Astronomy for high school. (there is one for elementary). Wondered if anyone had used a book they really liked. Thanks! --Patty

the thought of high school......

is scaring me. I have been homeschool my son for the last 3 years. He is going into the 8th grade. I know we have a year before high school, but the thought is overwhelming me. He has been asking to go to school this summer. I feel like you had "not so great year" for 7th grade. We had a lot of interuptions with family dynamics. All is calmer now, but I feel I need to go over some 7th grade curriculum---writing and spelling are lacking.

Any suggestions?.................

Hello, Everyone! Hope all are enjoying the end of summer and looking forward to a great year ahead!

I have a question for us "veterans"---anyone have any experience with their teens taking courses in community college, positive or negative? My ds is 16, 11th grade, and we're looking at a course in Middlesex County College for this fall, or spring. My question isn't so much about the procedures of getting him enrolled, but about how other teens may have adjusted to college level ...

True Girl Magazine (a Catholic teen girl magazine) ceased publication several months ago, and we were so sad. But it's coming back! It will be published under the name TG Magazine. (They can't use True Girl again because of copyright.) I didn't see a website on the info I received, but I'm sure one will be coming soon. The True Girl website is still up, but it doesn't say anything about this. We just received a "mini-mag" and were able to subscribe from that. When I find more ...

High School Religion (apologetics?)

Any ideas for a very bright 11th grader who knows her Baltimore catechism, has read many of the Ignatius Press Bible studies (Mark, Matthew, Acts, Romans), done Fr. Laux's books, and finds Scott Hahn's Didache series just a rehash of everything she's learned? She keeps telling me she "knows all this" (oohhh... the pride there! But, thats another problem!) and just needs an opportunity to put her faith into practice.
