Hello,

Is this the correct forum to sell books, or just the Cathswap Chat forum? I was redirected to this site at the Yahoo Groups site, but I do not see any items for sale. Help. I do like the emoticons option, though.
I apologize if this has been explained numerous times over and I have missed something.
Thanks.

NEVER skip Saxon 8/7!!!

  jlk Today at 10:35 pm

Hello,

I wish I could shout this from the highest mountain!

Algebra 1/2 is the book to skip if you skip anything - according to SAXON!!

Look at the fine print at the beginning of the Saxon catalog w/ FAQ - it explains it...however, the 2 page spreads describing each book SAY nothing!!

I just finished digging through all of this. Per Saxon representative - never skip Saxon 8/7. If your child achieves 80% or higher on 8/7 then ...

I don't know anyone personally who has used it so I'm looking for some input or constructive criticism on the program.

I was told that Horizons and Saxon were on about the same level, just Horizons

What would be a good program for next year's math? I don't want to have them

Hello everyone

I am just trying to figure out this whole homeschooling thing. I've got a first grader and I'm trying to research math programs for second grade. Up until now we were using MCP and she hated it, because the large pages of drills and lack of pictures demoralized her. I wasn't happy with it, because it didn't seem to give her any strategies for problem solving. She was counting on her abacus, or cheerios, or fingers to complete every problem (no wonder the full pages of drills ...

Hi, I have written an article on Singapore Math, and I would love some positive input on Singapore Math added to the site....actually, any input positive or negative would help. My son started Singapore Math before he entered school, and in my opinion, it was one of the reasons he was able to skip a grade. He is not an overly smart child or anything, but I feel that this helped give him the tools to succeed. I am also trying to get our school to implement this math program, so any input would ...

I have used Abeka math for my children all through homeschooling, and it has worked very well for us. While there is a bit of review, I only assign review problems as needed. From 6th - 8th grade, my older son taught himself math, as this was his preferred method of learning. He learned new concepts fairly easily from the Abeka books, and got straight A's on his tests.

Since my children have done well with Abeka, we naturally attempted to continue with it into high school. We have now run ...

I have used MCP for elementary grades math, it got us by our first years of homeschooling. We switched to Saxon like it until Algebra 1/2. We tried Key Curriculums Key To series and we really like it. My son is in 10th grade and I am just wondering if it will be enough because so far it seems that he's sailing on by easily so far.

We keep hearing great things about Teaching Textbooks, but the price is too high for our family to experiment with.
